Economic Energy
Think of your work/time as energy. Money "stores" that energy to deploy later. Good stores minimize leakage (inflation, fees, censorship risk).
The goal: convert effort → a durable, mobile store of value that you can transmit across space and time.
Money Printing
When the money supply expands faster than goods/services, purchasing power falls. New money often enters near the top (Cantillon effects), bidding up assets first,
then consumer prices. Result: distorted signals, more volatility, and tougher planning for savers and builders.
Austrian Economics
Key ideas: subjective value (people value goods differently), marginal utility (value of the next unit), time preference (now vs. later), and sound money as a stable measuring stick.
Credit expansion can trigger malinvestment and cyclical busts; prices coordinate knowledge best when they're free to move.
Acronyms you should know:
Do Your Own Research. Don't copy trades or takes blindly; verify sources and understand risks.
Fear Of Missing Out. Emotional buying because price is running; usually poor risk control.
Fear, Uncertainty, Doubt. Negative narratives (true or not) that push sentiment and price down.
Hold On for Dear Life. Meme for long-term holding through volatility.
All-Time High. The highest price level reached so far.
Dollar-Cost Averaging. Fixed-interval buys to smooth volatility.
Proof of Work. Security via computational work (e.g., Bitcoin); costly to attack.
Proof of Stake. Security via staked capital & penalties; different trade-offs vs. PoW.
Decentralized Finance. Open, programmable financial services without traditional intermediaries.
Know Your Customer. Identity checks required by regulated platforms/services.
